Bradford Primary School

01409 281432

On 1st September 2014 the school joined the Holsworthy Federation. This was a partnership with Bridgerule C of E Primary, Black Torrington C of E  Primary and Holsworthy Community College. On 1st January 2018 the school then became part of Dartmoor Multi Academy. Our Trust consists of 17 schools who have come together, based on a shared vision which encompasses the values of both the Cooperative movement and the Church of England. Since 19th April 2021 the school is now part of the 'Ruby Country Hub'.

Bradford Primary School was built in 1874 of local stone and slate. The main school is still housed in this building, now double-glazed and efficiently heated. Adjacent to the school was the old school house, once the residence of the headteacher, which is now used as a offices and an extra teaching space.

We are very lucky at Bradford to have a large site both indoors and outside! We have 2 classes which are bright and generous in size, offering our children extensive space in which to work. We are lucky enough to have two play areas which are hard surfaces – one for ball games and another for general play. There are outbuildings for storage and a large playing field. The school is generously equipped with outside space including a pond and environmental area with garden. The school hall accommodates a dining centre from which meals are served.

Bradford Primary School has a long established role in the community. We have close links with our local church group, the BBC, who visit us fortnightly to share assemblies with us. We welcome the community into our school and think it important that we remain at the heart of the community. We are lucky enough to have easy access to our village hall which we use for sports and events.

The school takes the views of parents and carers very seriously and we are always happy to listen to suggestions. There are termly parent forums as well as lots of opportunities to come into school, for example for social lunch or a Maths morning. The staff work hard to ensure there is an open door policy with parents so that concerns are discussed early and resolutions sought as soon as possible.

Please see our motto, vision and values page to find out more about our ethos and curriculum pages for information about our rich and varied curriculum, all updated and reviewed for September 2019.
